You made a nice house for fairies for your garden, but the dog just up and stepped on it. Now you need to explore your yard to find parts to make a new one.
Fairy House has you working through the woods behind your house so that you can find objects to build a new fairy house with. This means a lot of leaping and clambering around as you move deeper into the greenery. Still, the sun is shining, your dog is at your side (even if they’re the one who caused this trouble to begin with), and the peaceful sounds of the forest are all around you. It’s a temporary setback and an excuse for an adventure, honestly. And who could stay mad at such a lovable-looking dog?
Fairy House is a short jaunt back to days spent wandering your neighborhood and the yards of those who lived around you, letting your imagination wander as your feet carry you where they may. It’s a journey to lost days that used to hold so much wonder and possibility, where play was the only thing you had to worry about.
It’s a challenging feeling to reconnect with, but in the safe world the game has created, it allows us a moment to savor in that happiness and excitement that carries children throughout their day until the crushing nature of reality poisons it. It’s quite a lovely thing to experience again, if only for a little while.
Fairy House is available now (for whatever you wish to pay for it) on itch.io.
